VICE CHANCELLOR’S MESSAGE

UAHS is the youngest agriculture and horticulture university in  the state  of  Karnataka,  which  has  both  agricultural  and horticultural sciences under its purview. On behalf of the University I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the  UAHS  located in the foot hills of western Ghats. Western Ghats, the richest biodiversity hot spot of India and many tourist places like Jog falls, Sringeri, Agumbe, Lion Safari, Bhadra  and  Kuduremukha  reserve  forests,  etc  will give a thrilling experience. All these natural resources provide challenging opportunity to explore, experience, enlighten with knowledge empowerment. We are building a plot form to experience these at UAHS. We are committed to Develop technologies, technocrats, disseminators’ by providing strong knowledge base. We are committed to explore, Experiment and Excel in our teaching, research and extension arenas. We inspire socio-cultural value based thinking for harnessing our natural resources, with sound technical foundation. We are committed to serve our society to achieve sustainable development.

 

Development with sustainability is an evolutionary process to create new paths. In the process of Innovating these paths we value creativity, integrity, quality and team work in our endover. We are happy to work with our stake holders i.e. farmers by way of participatory research. We undertake contract research. We work in frontier area like Crop improvement, IFS, Resource management, precession farming, Biotechnology etc. To meet these research challenges the alliances and collaborative partnerships the University has established and establishing with business, industry, government, and other research institutions will also be helpful in strengthening our education.

 

We have six educational campus and sixteen research institutions and six farmers service points to serve our stakeholders (visit UAHS profile) which function under guidance and support of the Government of Karnataka and Indian Council of Agricultural Research New  Delhi. Apart from providing quality Undergraduate & Post graduate education in Agriculture, Horticulture and Forestry Sciences, the University is seriously involved in carrying out need based research for addressing issues concerning dry land development, canal irrigated crops, crops in malnad & hilly regions and coastal areas.

 

The UAHS is very fortunate to have committed staff, students and facilities. Our challenge for the future is to build on this sustainable base to establish ourselves as one  among the world’s leading universities.
